Born in Myanmar, 1965

Myoe Thant Oung studied under U Maung Maung Ba, U tin Maung OO, U Win Pye Myint and great master U Ko Shwe Ong Thame. He specializes in oil and acrylic but he favours oil.

M.T Oung's art passion is landscapes, especially trees, stumps and river scenes, often incorporated with huts and human figures in the background. He loves the beauty of the lines he discovers in nature and his works are immersed with them. He often uses a knife to create a 3-D effect. His paintings are outstanding, moody, foreboding and hypnotizing, a great stillness in dark spaces that lead to curves and twists and gargoyles trunks and branches into unknown areas. They often have a Gothic, exploding feel.

Although M.T Oung was born and raised in Yangon, his parents used to take him to their native village on school holidays when he was a child. This is where he first encountered the brooding landscapes of Myanmar. These images form the basis or his works and remain very dear to him.
